Gregory D. Prater, 63, met his Lord and Savior on August 15, 2020. Greg was a native of Buchanan, Michigan, born to Thomas M. Prater and Geraldine Darr Prater on September 10, 1956.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at 7 p.m. at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, from 4 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Greg met and married the love of his life, Linda Rocheleau, at a ceremony on the bank of the Cumberland River in 2004, a place they both truly enjoyed and spent many hours.
Greg’s dad exposed him to motorcycles at a young age effectively kickstarting Greg’s love affair with all motorcycles though he had a fondness for Harleys; he would say he had an Old Weakness for them. Greg loved to ride anywhere the front tire led him and he especially loved the twisty roads. He enjoyed the challenge of golf and Snooker. He was a previous member of Grace Community Church.
His family and friends were extremely important to him. Greg was loved for being compassionate and kind, always ready to lend a hand, especially to those less fortunate. He had loyal friends, who became brothers to him, and was loyal to them, quick to share a story, or to mentor those who shared his interests.
Greg is survived by his best friend and wife, Linda; sister Pamela O’Connor of Manchester, TN; children Jessica (Matthew) Cooper of Vine Grove, KY, Ryan Kunda and fiancé Nicole Correia of Franklin, TN, and Jennifer Prater Pickens of Michigan; grandchildren Eriksen Cooper, Jazmine Pickens, and Cardan Pickens; along with a loving extended family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers Michael Prater and David Prater and nephew Jon Becker.
Greg will take his final ride in a Harley Trike Hearse following the service, leaving McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and will ride down Riverside Drive along the Cumberland River for the last time with friends and family following.
