Grant L. (G.L.) Landiss, 100, Clarksville, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 12 noon Thursday at Nave Funeral Home Chapel, Erin, TN with Brother Richard Garza officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland City Cemetery, Cumberland City, TN. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at McReynolds-Nave and Larson Funeral Home, Clarksville and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at Nave Funeral Home, Erin, TN.
McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Landiss was born September 20, 1909, son of the late Grant L. and Kate Paschall Landiss. Mr. Landiss was a retired rural mail carrier with 41 years of service. He and his wife, Kate, and brother, J. Will, operated Landiss & Company General Merchandise for 21 years in Cumberland City. At the age of 65, he was named Director of the Highland Rim Economic Corporation, a position he held until age 77. He continued his farming interest until the time of his death. In 2009, he was recognized as the oldest living graduate of David Lipscomb University. He was a member of Cumberland City Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Kate Gillahan Landiss, brothers, Morris P. Landiss and J. Will Landiss Mr. Landiss is survived by a son, Fred (Judy) Landiss and daughter, Molly Shaw both of Clarksville; sister, Katherine Neighbors of Franklin, TN; and sister-in-law, Aldameda Landiss, Nashville, TN; grandchildren; Elizabeth (Dan) Black, Philip (Lori) Landiss, Grant (Marty) Shaw and Angela (Larry) Lyle; great-grandchildren; Katherine Grace Black, Abigail Katherine Landiss, and Landon Austin Shaw. Pallbearers will be, Grant Shaw, Philip Landiss, Dan Black, Larry Lyle, Chuck Neighbors, Matt Neighbors, Sam Kerr, Shipley Landiss, and Robert Landiss.
