Glenda Huckabey Payne, age 93, of Clarksville passed away Monday, May 01, 2017.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 at Excell Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Marcom officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday at Excell Baptist Church.
Glenda was born July 19, 1923 in Cairo, Illinois, daughter of the late James Rollins and Allie Kirkpatrick Rollins.
She was a member of Excell Baptist Church, and formerly a member of Cumberland Drive Baptist Church where she was a Children’s Sunday School Teacher, active in choir, for many years served as the V.B.S. Director and Wedding Coordinator. For many years Glenda was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, served as a volunteer for Memorial and Gateway Hospital for over 30 years, and was an avid supporter of Children’s Charities and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Glenda was a faithful Army wife following her late husband Col. (R) Pleas Huckabey through oversea assignments and many stateside moves throughout his 30 year Army career, then retiring in Clarksville Tn.
Preceded in death by her first husband and father of their children Col. (R) Pleas Huckabey; son; Keith Huckabey, second husband; Lt. Col. (R) Walter Payne, and sister Lula Mae Koonce.
She is survived by daughters, Lori O’Shoney, husband Craig, of Clarksville and Jan Webber, husband Al, of Indianapolis, IN; son by marriage, Walter Lee (Polly) Payne of Dowagiac, MI; brother, Barry Rollins; sisters, Anita Howle, Bettye Price; grandsons, Spencer O’Shoney, Nolan O’Shoney of Clarksville, Kyle and Logan Huckabey of Memphis, Dr. Michael Webber, wife Dr. Emily Webber, of Indianapolis and great grandchildren; Maggie and Charlie Webber of Indianapolis.
The family wishes to thank the outstanding staff of Asera Care Hospice with special gratitude to Tammy Coffman and Rhonda Davis and the most compassionate caregivers LaShica Thomas, Lori Moore, Chandra Austin, Pat Talley, Nancy Moreau , Jackie Adams and Amber Tengel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Excell Baptist Church Building Fund.
