Glen Eldon Dyer, 96, went to be with the Lord on
May 14, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a brief illness. Glen was born on October 16,
1921, in Parsons, Kansas, to Charles Eugene Dyer and Elizabeth Thurston Dyer.
Glen served his country honorably as a Marine Raider in the Pacific Theater during World War
II. He had a 38-year career as a linotype operator and printer for several different newspapers,
including Gannett, retiring in 1986. He was a golf enthusiast, active in his local church until later
in life, an avid reader, and a skilled woodworker who made many pieces of his family’s furniture.
Glen married Willa Dean Gray on May 26, 1946, in Purdy, Missouri. He was preceded in death by
his wife (died on June 21, 1999), and his 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his son Joseph
E. Dyer (Gayle) and one granddaughter, Allison Nicole Voight. Dad will be greatly missed by his
family and everyone who knew him. Graveside services will precede burial at Ft. Scott
National Cemetery in Kansas.
