Glen Britt

June 7, 1952 — December 17, 2018

Glen Thomas Britt, 66, of Clarksville, Tennessee, left this world for his next great adventure on Dec. 17, 2018.
He was born June 7, 1952, in Erin, Tennessee, son of the late J.C. and Elsie (Oldham) Britt.

Glen was affectionately known to many as “The Boss,” a title he earned as a focus of the Pet People column once published weekly in The Leaf-Chronicle, where he was routinely “dogged” by his beloved wife, Sandy. He was also teased by his coworkers at the Clarksville Montgomery School System, where we worked for 20 years before retiring in 2013.

Glen loved his pets and his wife dearly, despite regular displays of grumpiness over pet-related disasters. He was well-known as the fence-fixer, wallet-watcher and long suffering martyr in Sandy’s tales. Astonishingly, in the past six years he found true love for a dog in his little buddy, Richie, even though Richie was more trouble than all of the dogs who went before him, even Glen’s nemesis, the infamous Scooter.
Glen was an avid golfer, the handiest of handymen and a life-long Atlanta Braves fan who was thrilled to see the young team win the National League East Division title this year.
Glen loved (and sometimes cursed) his favorite hobby of restoring classic cars, and it’s likely he’s already begun to seek out his next project. He brought back to life several beauties, including a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang, a 1964 Mercury Comet and a 1954 Chevy pickup.
Glen retired from the Air Force in 1991 as a senior master sergeant, after serving 20 years in South Korea, Guam, Hawaii, South Carolina, Florida and Vietnam. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two devices, Air Force Commendation Medal with device, Vietnam Service Medal with device, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and many other awards, ribbons and commendations.
Glen is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sandy (Ogozalek) Britt; son, Jonathan, Marietta, Georgia; brother, Jerry (Faye) Britt, Dickson, Tennessee; sister Brenda (Clyde) Karnes, Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
