Gilbert Howard Durham, age 83, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at his residence at Fieldstone Place.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2022 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. Following the service, Gilbert will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home.
Gilbert entered into this life on October 11, 1938 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, son of the late Howard and Anita McCord Durham. As a young man, Gilbert enlisted and served in the US Army and went on to work and retire from the former Vulcan Company in Clarksville. Additionally, Gilbert was a Christian, having attended Church of Christ churches in Montgomery County through the years. He was also a frequent attendee of the Hardee's Round Table where he'd join friends partly for breakfast and coffee, but mostly for the fellowship and laughs.
In addition to his Mom and Dad, Gilbert was preceded by his sister, Shirley Durham. He is survived by his two siblings, Barbara Wildes of Nashville and Wendell Durham of Troy, Illinois, and their families.
Serving as pallbearers are Wayne Bowers, Terry Bowers, Roger Spears, Devin Mullins, and Jerry Durham. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Ladd and Wayne Chester.
The family would like to give special thanks to Fieldstone Place and to friends who became family; Bobby & Charlotte Nicholson.
Memorials are preferred to either the Clarksville Humane Society or to St. Jude Children's Hospital. The service will be live-streamed on Friday by visiting Gilbert's obituary listing at NaveFuneralHomes.com. Condolences may be made to Gilbert's family there as well.
