Gerald Thompson, age 84, of Clarksville, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Tennova Healthcare.
Memorial services will be held at Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 31st, 2021. Burial with full military honors will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 30th, 2021, at McReynolds, Nave and Larson followed by a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will be held again from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church on Friday.
Gerald was born October 6, 1937, in Union Grove, AL to Lester Phillip and R.Z. Whitlock Thompson. Gerald was the oldest of 11 children. He joined the Army in August 1953, a Vietnam Veteran, he traveled the world until he retired in February 1985. He was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY in 1974 where he settled with his family and called Clarksville, TN home. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cookouts, playing music, and spending time with his family and many friends. Gerald was a Past Master and fifty-year member of Queen City Masonic Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Al Menah Shrine Temple, Eastern Star, and a member of Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Sango, TN.
He is preceded in death by both parents, brother Harold Thompson, and sisters Janet Casey and Sue Parrish.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Celia Octava Camden Thompson of Clarksville, brothers Milton Thompson (Marie), Carter Thompson (Linda), Roger Thompson, and Randy Thompson; sisters Judy Fry, Wilma Ludwig, and Sherry Merritt. Children Ronald Barnett (Marcie) of Flintville, TN, Renee Quick (W.C.) of Flintville, TN, Gerald David Thompson (Jacqueline) of Clarksville, TN, and Anita Keatts (Tony) of Indian Mound, TN. Grand Children Brian Barnett, Anthony Holt, Travis Holt, John Holt, Tiffany Quick, Johnny Keatts, Brock Keatts, Phillip Keatts, Micheal Keller, Sara Engelhardt, Thomas Supulski, and Natalia Conrad, 19 Great Grand Children and 56 nieces and nephews.
Military will be pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Johnny Keatts, Brock Keatts, Phillip Keatts, Michael Keller, Tommy Supulski, James Conrad.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Queen City Masonic Lodge.
