George Lee Spurgeon, 81, Clarksville, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Alive Hospice at Saint Thomas, Nashville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Paul Bunger officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home. He was born June 25, 1928 in Sikeston, MO and was preceded in death by parents, Louie Elijah and Lula Cordelia Simpson Spurgeon; and his son, Taraye Spurgeon. Mr. Spurgeon was a retired FSG in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Jackson Spurgeon, Clarksville; son, Mark (Debbie) Spurgeon, Clarksville; daughter, Shela (Andrew) Grady, Fairview; Bobbie Henry, Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Nathan Grady, Rachel Grady, Sam Grady, Suzanne Butler and Josie Henry.
