William George Oliphant, age 73 of Clarksville, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Gateway Medical Center after a brief illness.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Terrell Marcum officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Camden City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home.
William was born on September 1, 1941 in Cheatham County, TN, the son of Gene Oliphant and Bertha Varden Oliphant. He worked as a meat cutter for H.G. Hills Grocery Store and currently worked at Dollar General Market. He was a member of Excell Baptist Church and a graduate of Montgomery Central High School, class of 1960. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
William is survived by his wife, Brenda Catherine Oliphant of Clarksville; and his son, Wayne Herrington Wyman of Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Katherine Mayola Maize of Clarksville; brothers, Paul Gooden of Erin, TN, Garland Guthrie of Cumberland City, TN, Lester Oliphant of Waverly, TN; niece, Rita Catherine Maize of Hopkinsville, KY.
