George Jerles
December 20, 1930 — August 19, 2019
George Jerles, age 88 entered this life on December 20, 1930 and passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 with his family by his side, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Peggy of 36 years. He is also survived by his children, Pat Jerles Gordon of Nashville, TN and Mike Jerles (Jackie) of Florida, and stepchildren, Joe and Chad Hooks both of Erin, TN. He leaves behind his precious grandchildren, Michelle Senn (Brandon), Lee Roberts, Shawn Jerles (Becca), and Matthew (Hannah), 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
George spent more than 16 years in the U.S. Navy as an aerial photographer, achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. After leaving, he was involved in real estate followed by his restaurant ventures, beginning with the Catfish House in Clarksville, TN. He continued to work in other fields until his 80’s when his compromised his stamina.
He was very proud to be a mason.
George was laid to rest at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN with military honors.
