Grace Geneva Shelton Comperry, 97, passed away September 27, 2011.
She was born July 10, 1914 to John Samuel Shelton and Velna Stanley Shelton in Montgomery County, Tennessee.
GG was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin W. Comperry, son, M. Wendell Comperry, grandson, Joseph Stephen White, and two brothers, J.F. Shelton and Glendon Shelton.
Survivors include her son, John Robert Comperry (Pat), Clarksville, daughters, Jean Comperry White (Howard) of Mount Juliet and Ann Comperry Hill (Wayne) of North East, MD, daughter-in-law, Jo Stone Comperry, Clarksville, sister, Lucille Davis, Nashville, and grandchildren, Derek Comperry (Michelle), Clarksville, Scott Comperry (LeeAnn), Clarksville, Gary Comperry (Lisa), La Porte, TX, Lisa Hotten (Bob), Deer Park, TX, John Howard Comperry (Diane), Clarksville, David J. White, Nashville, Laura White Berube (Steve), Knoxville, Jacqueline White McKay (Michael), Plano, TX, Christopher Hill (Christie), Sugarland, TX, and Melissa Hill Justice (Jay), Berlin, MD. She is also survived by twenty-two great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1932. She retired from the Clarksville Credit Bureau where she was head of the Collections Department. She was a longtime member of Sango United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Dr. David Comperry and the Rev. Charles "Skip" Armstead officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday.
Honored caregivers: Betty Clark, Melanie Clark, Iris Bennett, Donna Boring, and Lynn Norton.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
