Gene Leach

Gene Herschel Leach, age 82 of McKinnon, TN, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:04 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Leach Cemetery.

The Leach family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday afternoon.

Gene entered this life on August 25, 1941 in Covington, Tennessee, son to the late William Everett Leach and Dora Elizabeth “Sid” Cook. Gene was known as the “Horse Whisper” and loved working with his wild mustang horses. Gene had a fruitful career where he truly was a jack of all trades. However, his true passion in life was his family; he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Marilynn Leach; daughter, Rebecca Jean Leach Seelye; siblings, Shirley Leach Max, Louise Leach Archer; Margie Leach Chaney; Bonnie Leach Bendall, Larry Everett Leach, Jimmy Wayne Leach; and grandson, Clayton D. Barnes III.

Survivors include his loving children, Jesse Everett (Tonya) Leach, Joyce Francis Leach; siblings, Brenda Leach Redd, Johnny Leach, and Mary Leach Atcheson. Gene also leaves behind his precious grandchildren, Jaxon Leach, Noah Leach, Tyler Leach, Christopher Leach, Jaylin Leach, Serenity Leach, Jacoby Smith, Kira Seelye, Ryan Seelye; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
