Gary Hodges

Gary Jake Hodges, age 75, went to be with his Lord Friday, September 22, 2017 at his home in Cumberland Furnace.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Clarksville, with the Revs. Bill Graham and Larry Riley officiating. Gary will be laid to rest in the Potts Cemetery.
The Hodges family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church.
Gary entered into this life on January 1, 1942 in Montgomery County to the late Calvin and Pearl McWhorter Hodges. He graduated from Montgomery County Central High School, the University of Tennessee Knoxville and UT Law School. He practiced law for over 40 years and had a passion for missions, traveled with a servant’s heart to such places as China, Guatemala, and Brazil. Additionally, he was a member of the church family at First Baptist Church and served on various boards and committees as well as serving as a board member for Elisha’s Chamber Ministries. Gary was a Loving father and counted his greatest joy being “Grandfather” to his four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Portia Hodges.
Survivors include his daughter, Rachel H. Wall and her husband David; grandchildren, Katelyn, Jack, Charlie, and Jane Cavitt; and siblings,Kenneth Hodges, Rebecca Baggett, Delois Kennedy, and Opal Kennedy.
Nephews serving as pallbearers will be Larry Waynick, Steve Waynick, Paul Potts, Mark Beard, Michael Baggett, Rob Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, Donnie Plaster, David Greer, and Jason Potts.
Memorials are preferred to either The Bodine School, 2432 Yester Oaks Dr., Germantown, TN 38139 or to Elisha’s Chamber Ministries, P.O. Box 645, Clarksville, TN 37041.
