SFC Fulgencio Santiago-Otero (Ret), 79, Clarksville, died Monday, October 26, 2009, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 12 noon Thursday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home. The remains are to be cremated. He was born December 13, 1929 in Morovis, Puerto Rico and was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Santiago and Maria Otero; son, Fulgencio Santiago Jr.; brother, Wilfredo Santiago; sister, Andrea Santiago. Mr. Santiago was a retired SFC with the U.S. Army and was the recipient of The Air Medal, The Bronze Star, and The Army Commendation Medal, First Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ana Sanchez Santiago, Clarksville; sons, Edwin Santiago, Luis (Kimberly) Santiago, both of Clarksville, daughter, Wanda (Richard) Colbert, Nashville; brother, Manuel Santiago, Puerto Rico; sisters, Juana Santiago and Maria Santiago, both of Puerto Rico; grandchildren, Regen (Mitchell) Byrd, Brittney (Justin) Maddox, Amber (Ian) Woodward-Smith, Logan Colbert, Erin Colbert; great-grandchildren, Joshua Crawford, Caleb Maddox, Aidan Maddox, Abigail Byrd; and many nieces and nephews.
