Eugene Hendrix Putnam, 88, Clarksville, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Madison Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Marcoulier officiating. Burial will follow with Air Force Honors at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the Church. Mr. Putnam was born April 8, 1922 in Ashland City, TN and was the son of the late, Rev. J.M. and Mary Davis Putnam. Hendrex retired from the U.S. Air Force as a LTC and was a WWII Veteran. As a pilot he flew the B-24, B-29 and C-54 Aircraft. Hendrix was a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church. Survivors inlcude his wife of 67 years, Corinne Smith Putnam, Clarksville; sons, John Madison (Melanie) Putnam, Littleton, CO, Mark Glenn (Lori) Putnam, Nashville, TN; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
