In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Hazel Martin; children, Judy Martin, Kenneth Martin, Ervin Martin, and Larry Martin.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Richardson Martin; children by marriage Steve Perry, Ed Perry and Jesse Perry.
