Emmaline Craft Mitchell was born September 15, 1931, in Newberry, South Carolina and died April 12, 2012, at the age of 80. Her parents were David and Sallie Craft.
She married Bob Mitchell on December 19, 1954 and had six children. She was known as “Memaw” to family and community. Her children are Robbie (Mary Ann) Mitchell of Erin, Donnie (Cynthia) Mitchell of Clarksville, Ronnie (Mitzi) Mitchell of Erin, Tommy (Tereasa) Mitchell of Erin, Nethla Mitchell of Erin, and Melinda Mitchell of Erin. Memaw and Gramps (Bob) have 28 grandchildren and spouses along with 15 great-grandchildren including 2 deceased.
Memaw was a graduate of Austin Peay and was a retired school teacher. For over 55 years she was very actively engaged in the Church of the Nazarene as she shared her husband’s ministry. Memaw was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, librarian, and a friend. She had a beautiful soprano voice and with a humble spirit worked for her Lord and continues to serve Him now.
Memaw was loved by so many because she knew how to love.
Pallbearers will be Eric Reames, Adam Gleaves, Tyrel Mitchell, Chad Mitchell, Zeph Mitchell, and Ashley Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandsons.
The memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 17th, at the Erin Church of the Nazarene and burial in Mitchell Burial Garden. The service will be officiated by Dr. Barney Baggott, assisted by Rev. Jeff Stark.
Memaw loved flowers but would choose to have contributions made to “The Jesus Film” in care of Erin Church of the Nazarene or Long Creek Church of the Nazarene in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 16th, from noon to 8:00 PM at the Erin Church of the Nazarene and from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday.
