Elvin Manners

Elvin Irvin Manners, 91, went to be with the Lord August 23, 2015 at his residence in Clarksville, TN
His remains will be cremated and no visitation is planned per his request. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Greenwood Cemetery with Deacon Owen Schroeder officiating.
Elvin was born on September 7, 1923 in Stewart County, TN, the son of the late George Irvin Manners and Effie Austin Manners.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Laree Vaughn Manners, two brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his loving companion Bonnie Smith; brother, Charles Ray (Brenda) Manners; sisters, Dorothy Northfleet Eldridge, Betty Ezekiel, Beulah Hayner, and Ann (Owen) Schroeder.
He was retired from Lincoln Income Life Insurance Company and was a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church.
Elvin was a World War II Veteran and served as a combat infantryman in the 358th Infantry Regiment of the 90th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations under General George Patton in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He was awarded the European Theater Ribbon with 3/Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart, the World War II Victory Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
