Elsie Whitworth

Elsie Young Whitworth, 88, Clarksville, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, March 12, 2011 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Parish officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Whitworth was born November 24, 1922 in Decalb County, TN and was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Lester and Lilly Frances Luna Young; husband, John Edgar Whitworth; brothers, Herman Young, Dallas "Red"Young, Lester Young, Kelly Young; sister, Lera Baker; and son-in-law, Al Larravide. She was retired from Civil Service and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, John W. (Kelly) Whitworth, Clarksville; daughters, Beverly K. (James) Swafford, Rossville, GA, Judy Larravide, Nashville; brothers, Alvin Young, Donelson, TN, Nelson Young, Smithville, TN; sisters, Mentie Elizabeth Atnip, Smithville, Imanell Vannetta, Dowelltown, TN, Thelma Evans, Smithville, TN, Geraldine Hargrove, New Jersey; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 909 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.
