Florence Ella Lee Smith Winters, 94, of Palmyra, TN passed on from this life on July 27, 2017 after a three year stay at Signature Nursing Home.
There will be a visitation for Mrs. Winters starting at 9:30 on August 5th, 2017. The service will begin at Nave Funeral Home at 11am on August the 5th with Reverend Paul Moody officiating. The internment service will follow at McMillan Cemetery.
A native of Houston County, she was born June 14, 1923 to Johnny and Edna Schmidt of Erin, TN. She was a farmer’s housewife and raised 10 children, 1 grandson, and 2 great-grandchildren. She worked at the Palmyra Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Aid for 20 years. She was a member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one sister-in-law Beverly Schmidt of Flint Michigan; five children, Tommy Smith of Clarksville, TN, Gayle Jane Howell of Virginia Beech, VA, Phillip Smith (and his wife Renee) of Meredosia, IL, Frances Smith of Palmyra, TN, and Norman Smith of Petersburg, PA; as well as 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 6 great, great grandchildren. She had a total of 86 loved ones in a 5 generation family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Smith and Leaton Winters as well as five of her children; Melva (Smith) Kingsmill, Glen Smith, Danny Smith, Pearl (Smith) Ward, and John Smith.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
