Elbert Franklin Ferrell Sr., 88, Cumberland Furnace, was called home by his savior, Sunday, November 9, 2008, after an extended stay in a nursing facility. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Marion United Methodist Church with Revs. Tim Ferrell and Melvin Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Marion United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at McReynolds-Nave - Larson Chapel and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the church. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The youngest of 14 children, he was born September 5, 1920 in Dickson County the son of Frank Patrick Ferrell and Allie Ann Bentley Ferrell. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Martha Baggett Ferrell; and his son, Elbert Franklin Ferrell Jr. Mr. Ferrell was a member of Marion United Methodist Church, a Master Mason and 50 year member of Slayden Lodge #445. He retired from the civil service at Fort Campbell, KY and from Montgomery County Schools driving a school bus, and enjoyed raising Beef Cattle on his farm. A Veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II where he was severely injured during a plane crash. Survivors include his wife, Rosie Smalley Ferrell; and his beloved sons and daughters, Johnny Ferrell (Brenda) and Pat Ferrell, Cumberland Furnace, Chuck Ferrell (Wanda), West Laco, TX; Ann Kern (David), Clarksville, Betty Sue McDaniel (Mike), Nasvhille, and step-daughter, Lisa Herrell (Jerry), Southside, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family will serve as pallbearers. Many thanks to the caregivers and staff at Grace Health Care and Asera Care Hospice.
