Edward Cortez "Cotton" Grice, Sr., 90, of Tennessee Ridge, passed away May 11, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with the Revs. Beverly Dycus and Denise Settle officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Cotton was born October 11, 1920 in Humphreys County, Tennessee son of the late Robert Nathan Grice and Addie Lee Forrest. He married his beloved wife Pauline Patterson Grice on August 2, 1941. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2008. He served in CCC camp in Clarksville and was proud to serve in the U.S.Army, 75th Army Infantry Division overseas during WWII. He worked at Revere Copper and Brass in Michigan for 28 years and at TVA as a Boilermaker Local # 455 for 13 years. He was also self- employed until 2010. He was a devoted member of Tennessee Ridge United Methodist Church and belonged to the McKinnon Field R/C Club. Survivors include his three children, Eddie Grice, Gary Grice, and Patty Grice Nichols, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, sister Velma Grice Brown and brother Richard "Dickie" Grice of Waverly. Pallbearers will be Sean Nichols, Kevin Nichols, Scott Hooper, David Grice, Cole Hooper, and Jeremy Nichols. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Reynolds, Vernon Mobley, Clint Reynolds, and Sydney Cathey. Donations may be made to the Tennessee Ridge United Methodist Church or the Houston Co. Public Library.
