Edith Irene Hornback, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 1, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Central Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Guertin officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and 12 p.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Edith was born on April 23, 1928 in Hazard, Kentucky, daughter of the late Hood and Leaner Lawson. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to taking care of her family as a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Central Chapel United Methodist Church. Edith’s kind and caring nature touched the lives of everyone she met. She was an avid gardner, reader, quilter, and bowler. Her favorite hobby was bowling and she was a member of Skyline’s leagues until 2015.
Edith is survived by her children: Joann Vaughn, Barbara (Ray) Usina, Linda (Roy) Prewitt, and David (Michelle) Hornback; sister Marvelene Harper, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, US Army SFC James Roy Hornback and her sister Jean Blair.
Pallbearers will be James Beghtol, Travis Corbitt, Tyler Corbitt, Layton Ham, Joshua Minchew, Chris Prewitt, Ben Prewitt, and Hunter Prewitt.
