Edith E. Bennetts, 87, 3065 Westchester Drive, Clarksville, TN, died Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Montgomery Care & Rehab. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Tom Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the hour of service Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the funeral home at the funeral home. The remains are to be cremated. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born February 6, 1922 in Garrettsville, Ohio, daughter of Leon and Lena Beardsley. Survivors are her sister, Ruth Profio, Ravenna, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Sango Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Graduating from High School she studied nursing at the Cleveland, Ohio Metropolitan General Hospital. She entered the Army on 15 March 1944 as a 2nd Lt. in the Army Nurse Corps. She served in the Pacific during World War II and the European Theatre assigned to an Army Hospital as well as with a MASH unit. After her marriage in 1951 to Capt. Earl Bennetts who predeacesed her in 1998, she transferred to the Army Reserves completing 35 years of total service retiring as a Colonel. She and her husband traveled extensively in all parts of the world and to every state in the Union.
