Dr. William Harrison Fields, age 92 of Clarksville, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare.
A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Hilldale Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the church.
Billy was born March 12, 1925 in Nashville, TN, son of the late, Walter Plummer and Alice Mae Harrison Fields. Billy graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, and went on to the University of Alabama on a Football Scholarship until one year later he was drafted into the U.S. Navy, after which he went on to graduate from M.T.S.U. on a basketball scholarship. Billy was active in many Civic roles in Miami, Fl., among many, he served as President of the 1972 Orange Bowl. He was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes keeping himself involved in life long athletic endeavors. Dr. Fields started his Podiatry practice in Nashville later moving to Miami, FL until he returned to Crossville, TN and later in life to Clarksville to be close to his family. He was a member of Hilldale Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Elliott Fields and his daughter, Linda Guimes.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Yvonne Seay and his son, Preston Fields; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
