Dr. Timothy J. Beasley
March 21, 1949 – December 27, 2021 (Age 72)
Dr. Timothy J. Beasley, aged 72, of Murfreesboro, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Silverado San Juan Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
Timothy Joe Beasley was born March 21, 1949, in Detroit, MI to Hildon Clarence and Virginia Lee (Sykes) Beasley. He was raised in Tennessee Ridge, TN and graduated from Houston County High School in 1967. Tim married Peggy Beasley in June, 1971, in Martin, TN. He earned his BS degree from the University of Tennessee, Martin, in 1971. He earned his medical degree in 1974 from the University of Tennessee, Memphis. He completed his internship in Family Medicine in Columbus, GA, in 1975. Following medical school, he completed his residency training at Vanderbilt University in 1980. He was board certified in Family Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology before beginning his OBGYN practice in Murfreesboro where he practiced for 17 years at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC).
During his time at MMC, Tim was Chief of Staff at St. Thomas, Rutherford and served as board member of the MMC. He was a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He participated and led in numerous trials for the advancement of medical equipment and devices to improve surgical procedures and outcomes.
He was one of the founding members of New Vision Baptist Church and an avid medical volunteer who traveled to Honduras and South Africa among others to treat patients in underserved areas as part of medical missions ministry. In addition to his faith and career, he enjoyed running, boating, and coaching sports for the Murfreesboro Youth League.
Dr. Beasley was most well-known for his passion for medicine and dedication to his patients. Yet what set him apart was his sense of humor and radiant personality that lifted the spirits of anyone he met. These qualities prevailed throughout his life no matter the circumstances. In May 1997, he experienced a severe car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury and stroke. Though this event left him permanently disabled and forced him to retire from practicing medicine at the age of 47, his strong will and endearing faith continued to thrive for the remainder of his life.
Dr. Beasley spent his final years surrounded by family and loving care at the Silverado San Juan Capistrano assisted living facility in California.
He is preceded in death by both parents, brother, Darrell Beasley, and niece, Kimra Graves.
He is survived by his ex-wife of 24 years, Peggy Beasley of Murfreesboro, TN, three children, Jason Beasley of Bangkok, Thailand, Marcie (Bennie) Pham of Huntington Beach, CA, and Jessica Sorenson (Jeff) of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA; sister, Wanda Graffeo (Mark) of Fayetteville, GA, brother, Kurt Beasley (Teresa) of Franklin, TN; four grandchildren, Kalyx, Nolan, Finley, and Teagan; and four nieces and nephews.
In lieu of a service, there will be a Celebration of Life in Summer, 2022.
