Douglas (Duck) Underwood, 80, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at his home in Cunningham.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Bro. John Black and Bro. Paul Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
Douglas entered this life on June 15, 1932 in Cunningham, Tennessee, son of Hugh Thomas Underwood and Ruby Jane Harrison Underwood. He was retired from a career with Trane Company and was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Treasurer for the past 45 years.
He is survived by his loving family which includes his wife of 60 years, Myrtle Smithey Underwood of Cunningham; children, Mike Underwood of Cunningham, Gail Ussery of Cunningham, Pam Underwood of Clarksville, Donna Goodlett of Cunningham, and Sheila Hogue and husband Larry of Cunningham; and siblings, John Robert Underwood of Cunningham, Mary Mabry of Evansville, IN, and Gladys Welker of Clarksville. He was the proud grandfather of Victoria Earp and husband Bryan, Michael Ussery, Justin Hogue and wife Kim, Britney Rushing Binkley and husband Michael, Isaac Hogue, Bethani Rushing, and Lindsey Underwood, great grandchildren, Amber Yoes, Michael Levi Ussery, and Elige Hogue, and great-great granddaughter, Saphira Yoes.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Trotter, Barry Murphy, Curtis Rodenhaber, Roger Baggett, Bobby Richardson, and Timmy Ashby. Paul Clark and Ernest Clark will serve as honorary pallbearers.
