Dorothy Jean Swift Whitehead, 71, Clarksville, died Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center under hospice care. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Kail officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and from 1 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born October 6, 1938 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee, daughter of John Swift, Sr. and Rena Yarbrough Swift. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Hughes Whitehead, granddaughter Leslie Lynn Whitehead, brothers Vernon Swift, Billy Joe Swift, and James Ed Swift, and sisters Frances Conatser and Allene Lyle. She was a homemaker and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Jeffrey Lynn and Tamy Whitehead, William H. Whitehead, Jr., and Barry O'Neil and Heather Whitehead, all of Clarksville, brother John Swift, Jr. of Michigan, grandchildren Christopher O'Neil Whitehead, Kimberly Ann Whitehead-Nettles, Matthew Malcome Whitehead, Landon Tyler Whitehead, Jennifer Lee Whitehead, and Ashley Nicole Whitehead, and great-grandchildren Jaden Richard Nettles, Grace May Whitehead and Ross Stevens.
