Dorothy Rye - 1927 Dorothy Lee Rye, 83, Erin, died Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Patient's Choice Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 6pm Tuesday at Griffins Chapel Church of The Nazarene with Bro. Doug Terry and Bro. David Steppee officiating. Burial will be in New Home Cemetery Offermen,Ga.. Visitation will be from 1pm until service Tuesday at the church. Nave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy was born November 15, 1927 in Pierce County,Ga. daughter of the late William thomas Gill Jr. and Margie Clark Gill. She was a member of Griffin's Chapel Church of The Nazarene. Survivors include one son Troy Rye, five daughters Gilda Clark,Sandra Baggett, Brenda Lewis, Sheila Clark, Connie Meadows all of Houston County,Tn.one brother William Gill III of Waycross,Ga.two sisters Thelma Thornton of Stark,Fl.Carolyn Crump of Bristel,Ga. 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Dorothy graduated from Blackshear High School in 1945. She became a telephone operator in DeLand, Fla. While there, she met R.J.Rye,Jr., who was in the Navy. They married and moved to Erin, Tn., where Dorothy still lived. For the last few years she had been in the Signature Healthcare Nursing Home. Her body will be brought back to Pearson-Dial Funeral Home for burial at the New Home Cemetery in Offerman,Ga. Visitation will be Saturday, February 26,2011 from 11:00a.m. until 1:15p.m. The graveside service will be at 2:00p.m., with her nephew, Dick Dixon, officiating.
