Dorothy Powers

Dorothy Chapman Powers, 87, Cumberland Furnace, went to be with the Lord, September 24, 2008. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. William Buckner officiating. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Palmyra, TN. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday and from 12 noon until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born June 1, 1921 in Montgomery County, TN. Preceded in death by her husband, James L. Powers; parents, Florence Rye and William Thomas Chapman of Palmyra, TN; step-mother, Anna Mount Chapman; brothers, Bernard and Alfred; sisters, Mary Lee Chapman, Minnie Baggett and Sarah Neblette. Mrs. Powers was a homemaker and a member of Tarsus United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Bartley (Charlotte) Myers Jr., Elkton, Thomas J. (Adria) Myers, Chattanooga; brother, W.T. "Red" Chapman, Palmyra; close friends, Paul (Elaine) Hale, Cumberland Furnace; step-son, James L. (Sandy) Powers, Brighton, IL; step-daughters, Annette (Toni) Massi, Deer Park, Long Island, NY, Wanda (Kermit) Webb, Damascus, MD; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Paul Hale, P.J. Hale, Chad Hale, Allan Roper, Jeff Myers and Rick Chapman. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to Gateway Hospice, 1606 Haynes Street, Clarksville, TN 37043 or Pennyroyal Hospice, 220 Burley Avenue, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
