Dorothy Sue Boyer, age 82 of Clarksville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Kidwell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.
Dorothy was born on April 11, 1933 to the late Eldon Ezekiel Buckner and the late Ruth Bumpus Buckner in Cumberland Furnace. She was preceded in death by husband, William “Bill” Boyer; brothers, Rev. William “Bill” Buckner and Eldon Buckner Jr., and sister, Louise B. Cothron. Dorothy retired from Civil Service at Fort Campbell, KY after 30 years and was also a farm wife. She loved cooking and sewing, ceramics, reading, music, and teaching Sunday school. Mama was fiercely devoted to her family and was especially proud of her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
Dorothy is survived by her 4 children, Ruth (John) Hoekstra, William (Randy) Boyer, Sue (Tommy) Jones, and Phyllis (Jim) Casebolt; 7 grandchildren, Tim (Brooke) Kidwell, Heidi Ervin, Shawn Jones, Bruce Ervin, Brian (Erica Solis) Ervin, William Hoekstra and John (Heather) Glenn-Hoekstra. Mama delighted in her four great-grandchildren, Addison, Bailey, Ethan, and Ellie. Dorothy is also survived by brother, Joe (Chris) Buckner; sister, Nancy B. Poole; brother-in-law Jack Cothron; sister-in-law, Anne Buckner, as well as many well-loved nieces and nephews.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bill Grabenstein, Otho Welker, Rich Conley, and Bill Wright.
