Doris Self Adkins, 87, Clarksville, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Christian Care Center, Springfield.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
Doris was born October 25, 1924 in Montgomery County. Preceding her in death are her parents, William and Nora Proctor Self, her husband, William Ponder Adkins, brothers Upton, Carl, Sidney, and Richard Self, and sisters Nora Hasley, Lucy Self, Willie Mae Lyle, Lillian Lyle, and Sudie Wagner. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her daughter of Clarksville, Sandra Kay Adkins McCown and grandchildren Alexandra, Adrian, and Julia McCown.
