Dillard Thomas Mathis

Dillard Thomas “Big T” Mathis, age 72, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 at his residence. 

   A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Jessie Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Cane Creek Cemetery.

   The Mathis family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday afternoon. Masonic funeral rites will be held Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home.      

   Big T entered this life on October 28, 1951 in Erin, TN, son to the late Dee Mathis and Mildred Richardson Mathis. Big T attended Walnut Groves Baptist Church, was a member of Masonic Wisdom Lodge#300, and was a teamster in Local Union 327 for over 40 years. 

   In addition to his parents, Big T was preceded in death by his siblings, Jerry Mathis, Shelia Smith; and great- granddaughter, Karen K. Stafford.  

   Survivors include his loving Kay Baby; children, Thomas “Little T” (Renae) Mathis, Regina Marie Mathis (Timothy Taylor), Anthony Curtis;  grandchildren, Austin Stafford, Carin Stafford, Evan Overlay, Haley Mathis, Thomas W.D. Mathis II, Lily Curtis; great-grandchildren, Nova-Lynn McMurry, and McKayla Stafford.  

   Serving as pallbearers will be Stevie Wyatt, Bret Whitaker, Billy Mathis, Austin Stafford, Evan Overlay, Tommy Mathis II, Anthony Curtis, and Wes Mathis.
