Dennis F. Ziems, age 66, of Peotone, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in Clarksville, TN.
He was born on November 14, 1949 in Chicago Heights, IL, the son of the late Clarence Louis and Patricia Kathleen (Soukup) Ziems. He was retired from Thrall Car Manufacturing after 30 years working as a supervisor. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran, loved camping with his family, was a diehard Chicago White Sox Fan, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved his brand new motor home and traveling with his wife and spending the winter in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Orzechowski) Ziems of Peotone who he married on October 18, 1970 in Steger, IL. He is also survived by his three children; Dennis M. (Janice) Ziems of Steger, Gina Ziems (Robert) Werner of Kankakee, and Nicole Ziems (Josh) Lambert of Bradley; three grandchildren, Luke Edward Ziems, Faith Lynn Lambert, and Nate Jacob Werner; and his two little Chihuahuas, Lulu and Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Juanita Orzechowski; and his brother-in-law, Eddie Orzechowski.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone on Tuesday, April 5 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m., Deacon Jim Kelly officiating. Interment and military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Pallbearers will be Josh Lambert, Robert Werner, Nate Werner, Michael Orzechowski, Bill Krueger, Len Tibbie, and Luke Ziems. Memorials to the family’s wishes would be appreciated.
