Denise Schmidt

Denise Etta Schmidt, age 59 of Nashville, TN, passed away suddenly, February 15, 2020 at Tri Star Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, TN, due to complications from a recent illness.

Family will receive friends at Nashville area reception on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Hermitage Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN.

A celebration of her life service will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home in Erin, TN. Visitation on Saturday will be one hour prior to the service at Nave Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Gray Barnes Cemetery.

Denise entered this life on December 31, 1960 in Bristol, TN, daughter to the late Jesse James Schmidt and Marian Verline Barnes Schmidt.

Denise graduated from Dickson County High School in 1979 and was a member of the band, choir and theater department. Afterwards Denise attended Middle Tennessee State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts. She loved everything regarding theater, especially her plays and Broadway shows along with show tunes and classical movies.

Survivors include her long-time partner, Charles Jazz Zelley, loving sister, Jennifer Schmidt Mangrum and brother in-law Rick Mangrum.
