1SG (Ret) David Martinez Mendiola, age 70 of Clarksville, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Main Church. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Full Military Honors rendered.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with a Rosary Service following at 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday, at the church.
David was born on December 20, 1945 in Inarajan, Guam, the son on Gonzalo Mendiola and Maria Naputi Martinez Mendiola. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his daughter, Doreen Mendiola and brothers, Jose Mendiola and John Mendiola. He retired from the U.S. Army as 1SG. He earned many decorations and awards during his Military career including a Purple Heart. He was a member of Immculate Conception Catholic Church and also a member of the American Legion and D.A.V.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Cepeda Mendiola; son, Wayne (Melissa) Mendiola; daughter, Sherlene Mendiola; brothers, Jose Tedtaotao and Frank Tedtaotao; grandchildren, Pemberley Keats Mendiola.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation at 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
