David Allen Dycus, age 75, of Clarksville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 19, 2022.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Revs. Denise Settle and Sammie Wallace officiating. Following the service, David will be laid to rest at Wilee’s Chapel Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday.
David entered this life on September 17, 1947, in Dyer County, Tennessee to the late Allen and Mary Whitworth Dycus. As a young man, David proudly served his country in the US Army, having served combat duty in Vietnam. Following his discharge, David went on to a lengthy career as a Unit Operator with the TVA. He also worked for and retired from Austin Peay State University.
In addition to his awards and citations, David was the recipient of a Veteran’s Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. David was a member of the church family at Wilee’s Chapel United Methodist Church, served with Houston County’s American Legion Post #73, and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), and Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV).
Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly Atkins Dycus, daughter, Tara Jacques (Wayne), grandson, Andrew David Elvin Jacques, and his siblings, Bill Dycus (Paula) and Grace Desnoyers.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Atkins, Joshua Hambley, John Allen, Roger Crow, Jr., Jordan Atkins, Cortland Atkins, Brayden Hambley, Wesley Hensley, and honorary pallbearer, Andrew David Elvin Jacques.
