David Cummings

David Anthony Cummings, age 65, of Clarksville, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 25, 2013.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Hilldale Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Robertson officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
The Cummings family will be receiving friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and 12 noon until the hour of service Saturday at Hilldale Baptist Church.
David entered this life on May 14, 1948 to parents Kenny and Leona Vaughn Cummings. Following graduation from APSU, David was active in the insurance business and along with partners established and operated Mann, Smith & Cummings Insurance Agency in Clarksville. He had a great passion for his work as a Certified Insurance Counselor and belonged to Insurers of Tennessee and the NAIFA Hall of Fame. He was also an active citizen of the local community and strived for its betterment. In doing so, David belonged to the Jaycees of Clarksville, the Kiwanis Club, and was a Board Member of the Clarksville-Montgomery Co. Humane Society and was a founding member of the Special Olympics of Clarksville. Above all, David loved his Lord, and was joyful to be a member of the church family at Hilldale Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Lou Pressler Cummings; children, Christopher Anthony Cummings and Amber Louise Schacht and husband Jamie; grandchildren, Madilyn and Julia; his niece Emily Staggs and great nephew Hunter Staggs; step father, Dennis Wood; and his beloved pug "Millie".
Pallbearers will be Tommy Burney, Andy Hollis, Jim Schacht, Greg Walker, Ronnie Powers, Rod Grassman, Wilson Christy, Jimmy Bryant, and Pat Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Meeks, Ed Locklear, Johnny Locklear, Jim (Bo) Bennett, Joe Haley, and Verlon Moore.
