Darlene Gordon, a loving mother and devoted Army wife, peacefully passed away on March 13, 2025, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living in Adams, Tennessee, at the age of 83. Born on February 25, 1942, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Walter and Mary James, Darlene lived a life filled with love, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Throughout her life, Darlene was known for her nurturing spirit. She was a welcoming presence in her community, always ensuring that her home was a sanctuary for her children and their friends, creating countless joyful memories during their formative years. Her ability to make everyone feel at home, especially the neighborhood kids, was a testament to her generous heart and warm demeanor.
As an avid reader, Darlene found solace in the pages of books, especially enjoying the novels of Nora Roberts. She also enjoyed baking from time to time. Darlene treasured daily visits with her next-door neighbor and close friend, Frances VanDyke, and shared many conversations that enriched their lives. Darlene was a Catholic.
Darlene was a proud mother to her three children, Barry Gordon (Betty), Lynn Bailey, and Wendy Deitz. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, James Bryant, Deanna Deitz, Josh Bryant (Christina), and Michael Deitz, Jr. (Sara), as well as her three great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward. She is also survived by her sister, Elvira McConnell, who she affectionately called "Sis".
Visitation with the family will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will begin at the funeral home at 12 noon on Tuesday. She will be laid to rest immediately following at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are James Bryant, Joshua Bryant, Michael Dietz, Sr., Michael Dietz, Jr., Jason Young, and Steve Basco.
Darlene Gordon's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, generosity, and cherished relationships. She will be remembered warmly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
