Clarksville – Dan Hanley 1941-2021
Clarksville builder, artist and writer crossed over to the next dimension May 17, 2021 at the age of 79. Hanley was well known for his award-winning painting and design work. He believed his greatest achievement in life was being a decent and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. "I've sought to live by the instruction in Max Ehrman's work "Desiderata."
Dan was born to J.D. and Russell Aline Hanley, August 20, 1941 in Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his "second parents", Harold and Geneva Cox.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 47 years, Jodie Cox Hanley, loving daughter, Kerri Danielle Lusso (Mike, Nolensville) and granddaughter Aubrie Grace Lusso… the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Patrick (Beverly) and many nephews and nieces… and his dog, Peabody.
Hanley had served on MSUMC Board of Trustees and the Customs House Board of Directors. He was the Executive VP of Fox Ridge Homes and was a member of the NAHB. He was a regular speaker at the convention. He was awarded the Institute of Residential Marketing designation and headed up his company's Parade of Homes team which took a number of awards. He was named Marketing Director of the Year by Nashville Homebuilders Association.
Hanley was granted leave to serve on the Clarksville Tornado Recovery Task Force and chaired the Recovery Design Review Committee as well as the Design Guidelines project.
He enjoyed; reading, bay fishing, water gardening, fishkeeping and painting with his granddaughter. "I cannot name anyone who loves and enjoys his family and friends as I… thanks to God for a blessed life" – Dan Hanley.
In lieu of flowers memorials may go to MSUMC, Manna Café, Loaves and Fishes, Customs House Museum or the local Humane Society.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Madison Street United Methodist Church. The Hanley Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
