CLARKSVILLE – CW2 (Ret.) Legree Hairston, Jr., 84 of Clarksville, passed away, December 25, 2019 at Tennova Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, the family will be present from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. Following the visitation a Masonic Service to follow at 6 p.m. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the Church.
Legree was born July 4, 1935 in Isaban, WV to the late Legree Hairston, Sr. and Janie Bell Gilchrist Hairston. He was a member of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Thomas A Simms #170 Prince Hall Affiliation of Kentucky, Honorary Past High Priest (Royal Arch) Prince Hall Chapter 36, Grand Inspector General 33rd Degree Robert B. Kendall, Jr. #81 Consistory, Malta Commandry #18, Honorary Past Potentate Rajah Temple No. 92., Honorary Grand Secretary Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Kentucky (PHA) Inc., Past Grand Patron of Cecelia Dunlap Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star Kentucky Jurisdiction and the American Legion Post 143. Other than his parents Legree was preceded in death by his sons, Michael Jerome Hairston and Jon Nieswender Hairston.
Legree is survived by his wife Leonia Ann Thompson Hairston; children, Melba Ortiz, Attral Tyrone Hairston, Sonja Baldwin Pickett (AJ), Cynthia Hunter (Ronald), Lisa Pollard, Jeffery Legree Hairston, and Vincent Arbon Hairston; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Cunningham. Memorials may be made to the Tennessee Veterans Home Activity Dept. Pallbearers will be Harold Hairston and the members of the Thomas A. Simms, Jr. Lodge #170. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Flower Bearers will be members of the Lily White Chapter #132 Order of the Eastern Star.
