CWII (Ret.) Homer Erickson

CWII (Ret.) Homer Edward Erickson, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2021 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Guertin and Rev. Dr. Randy Goodman officiating. He will be laid to rest with US Army Honors at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Homer's family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and 12:30 to the hour of service on Monday at the funeral home.

Homer entered into this life on May 6, 1931 in Chetek, Wisconsin to parents Dallas Erickson, Sr. and Vera Calkins Erickson Parish. He entered into military service at the age of 18 and bravely served in Korea and Vietnam. Some of his notable decorations include 2 Overseas Service Bars, the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), and the Vietnam Campaign Medal (60 Device).
Following his service to country, Homer graduated from Austin Peay State University and went on to teach for CMCSS at Byrns Darden and New Providence Middle Schools. He was a member of MOAA, T.E.A., and was an accomplished Southern Gospel Bass Singer for the Heralders Quartet and The Erickson Family for over 50 years. Homer was a member of the church family at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Loy Laird Erickson; children Heidi Nolen and Ron Erickson (Janet); grandchildren, Robin Erickson and Chrissy Victory (Keith); and siblings, Cheryl Dell'Accio (Chuck), Gary Parish, and Rhonda (Tom) Timms. In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his brothers, Dallas Jr., Arvin, and Morris Erickson.

Pallbearers will be Joe Pitts, Andy Richardson, Bo Rogers, Gary McCullum, Bob Schamberg, Bob Keele, and Joe Tassone.
