CW3 ( Ret.) Fred Horsley

CW3 (Ret) Freydric “Fred” E. Horsley Jr., age 64, of Adams, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 while in the Ukraine on business as a civilian contractor.
A Celebration on life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday January 27, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Clarksville, Faith Building, 435 Madison St., Clarksville, TN 37040. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at McReynolds-Nave and Larson Funeral Home and from 2 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at First Baptist Church. Fred will be laid to rest with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Fred was born December 21, 1948 in St. Albans, NY to Freydric E. Horsley Sr. and Mary Dunn Horsley Diener.
Fred retired from the US Army following a prestigious military career. He performed his duties in the Army with distinction and meritorious performance, evident by his 25- year contribution and service. Fred served in the Vietnam War, and also served in the 1st, 10th, and 7th group Special Forces before finally serving the 160th SOAR (Special Operation Aviation Regiment) Night Stalkers throughout his military career. He then spent 18 years as a Civilian Mission Instructor (CMI) for the 160th SOAR while working for various private contractor companies including IDR (International Development Resources). After leaving the unit he spent time as a contractor in Jordan, Salt Lake Utah (TSGI), and Afghanistan (American Systems). He was currently employed by DynCorp International, who enlisted his competencies and skills for providing support to the U.S. Government in the interest of national security, diplomacy, and international development objectives. Fred was also the owner and operator of Horsley Family Farms in Adams, TN.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Michiko Horsley of Adams, children, Nat Horsley (Monica)of Louisville, KY, Shannon Reagan (Tim)of Pleasant View, and Kimberly Horsley (Chris Vissers) of Nashville, his mother Mary Diener of Felton, Delaware, and siblings Mary Katharine Thompson, John N. Horsley III, George K. Horsley, Lynn A. Gosier, and Irene Victoria Horsley. He was the proud grandfather of Kyle, Alexandra, Caleb, Landyn, and Madeline, and dear uncle to three nieces Missy, Katie, and Allycyn and three nephews Kevin, David, and Johnny.
