CW3 (Ret) Andrew T. Sanford, age 83 of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Tennessee State Veterans’ Home.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Chapel. Service and Military Honors will follow the visitation.
Andrew entered this life on June 29, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Paul and Margaret Hinshaw Sanford. He entered in the United States Army in 1955 and completed basic training in Ft. Jackson, SC. After the completion of basic training, Andrew was sent to Ft. Campbell, KY (11th Airborne) where he trained to be a medic. Andrew was sent to Germany with the 11th Airborne and the back to Fort Campbell to be with the 101st Airborne in 1960. In January 1965, Andrew was sent to Vietnam to be with the 173rd Airborne Medic. He came home in July of 1966, attended flight school, and returned back to Vietnam with the 18th Aviation Unit. After several years of faithful and honorable service, Andrew retired from Fort Rucker on April 30, 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Schultz Sanford; sons, David Sanford, Michael (Jacqui) Sanford, and Timothy (Kay) Sanford; brother, Amos Sanford; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
