CSM (Ret.) Richard Ritchie, 84, Clarksville, died Saturday, November 22, 2008, at Spring Meadows Health Care. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m Wednesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday & Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born May 17, 1924 in Harrisonburg, VA, son of the late Aldine and Maude McDorman Ritchie. Mr. Ritchie retired from the U.S. Army as a Command Seargant Major, was a U.S. Navy veteran, served during WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam conflict. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He also retired from the United States Department of Labor, was an APSU graduate, a Mason, a Kentucky Colonel, a Shriner, and was a member of the local VFW and DAV chapters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Julius, Charles, Dewitt, and Jim. He is survived by his wife Virginia Watkins Ritchie of Clarksville; sons Richard Michael Ritchie, Soddy Daisy, TN, , Patrick Ritchie, Clarksville, Robert E. Tucker, FL, and Johnny Amburgey, KY; daughters Patricia Louise Rubenhold, Australia, Brenda White, FL, Donna Trone, SC, and Georgia Smith, OH; sisters Janet Ritchie Lambert and Goldie Ritchie Stafford and sister-in-law Laura Ritchie, all of Harrisonburg, VA; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
