CSM (Ret) William “Bill” Coleman Ledbetter, 84 of Clarksville, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Chaplain Richard Anderson and Rev. Berry Simpson officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
Bill was born on March 20, 1932 in Jefferson County, Al, to the late William Coleman Ledbetter, Sr. and Alma Lucille Sanders. He retired as CSM from the U.S. Army and was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church. His Military awards include, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 9 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 Device, Army Commendation Medal w/V Device and 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Master Parachutist Badge, Valorous Unit Award, Air Medal with V Device (3rd Award), Purple Heart w/ 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Silver Star, Distinguished Service Cross, Armed Forced Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Bronze Star, Bronze Star Medal, w/ V Device and 6th Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Unit Citation, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Civil Action Unit Award, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Silver Star, 7 overseas bars, Meritorious Service Medal w/ 1 Oak Leaf Cluster.
Bill is survived by his wife, Beverly Shores; son, William Coleman Ledbetter, III and wife Stephanie; daughter, Grace Colleen McLaughlin and husband Craig; grandchildren, William Coleman Ledbetter, IV, Alexander Ledbetter, and Mitchell Louis Ledbetter; great-grandsons, Bryson and Brock Duffer.
Soldiers from 5th Special Forces Group will serve as pallbearers.
