CSM (Ret) Rufus Mendenhall

CSM Rufus "Wally" Mendenhall, US Army Retired, passed away June 3, 2016 at Tennova Health Care.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on June 14, 2016 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with the Rev. Jessie Tharpe officiating. Full Military Honors will be rendered.
Wally entered into this life on August 3, 1928 in Grainger County, Tennessee to the late Walter and Bessie Mendenhall. In addition to his parents Wally was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lisa Kuhn Mendenhall and siblings Bud, Ella, Ed, Don, and Bill. Survivors include his children, Shirley Chase and husband Douglas, Alyne Hallman, David Mendenhall and wife Jan, and Cindy Tetreault and husband John; siblings, Gene Mendenhall and wife Carrie, James Mendenhall and wife Alma, JW Mendenhall and wife Karen; sister, Monnie Johnson and husband Pete; and sisters-in-law, Brenda and Margaret Mendenhall. Additionally, he was the loving grandfather to six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and leaves behind his loving companion, Sharon Strickland.
In lieu of flowers, Rufus requested donation be made to either the American Lung Association or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
