CSM (Ret) Albert Monk, 82, Clarksville, died Monday, February 15, 2010, at Skyline Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 10am Friday at McReynolds-Nave and Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Terrell Marcom officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, KY with full military honors. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. Thursday at McReynolds-Nave and Larson and from 9a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. He was born October 25, 1927, in Calhoun, LA, the son of the late Fred and Etta Bell Monk. He was preceeded in death by first wife, Iris June Monk, and son, Billy Kye Stuart. Mr. Monk was a Baptist and a retired CSM in the US Army after 30 years of service. he served in WWII, spent 2 tours in Vietnam, and was a part of the 11th Airborne, 101st Airborne, 326th Engineering Battallion, VFW Post #11160, and was a faithful husband and father and will be terribly missed. Survivors include wife, Shirley Bankston Monk, Clarksville, sons; Richard Monk (Laura), Ind, Michael Monk, Clarksville, Herman M. Stuart (Janet), Clarksville, daughter; Barbara Monk Drummond (Rick), Ill, grandchildren; Sara Dragoo, Andy Moore, Travis Moore, Leighann Hickman, great-grandchildren; Dylan, Max, Kalvin, Kaymle, Abigail, Kylie, Tobias, and Kasey. Military will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Excell Baptist Church, 328 Excell Rd., Clarksville, TN 37042.
