Colleen Bayer Vaughn, 81, Tennessee Ridge, died Monday, December 15, 2008, at her daughters residence. The funeral will be held at 2pm Wednesday at Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Joel Nulty and Bro. Ellis Felts officiating. Burial will be in Bayer-Vaughn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2pm till 8pm Tuesday and from 8am till service time Wednesday at Nave Funeral Home. Nave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born Frebruary 23, 1927 at her childhood home in Cumberland City, Tn., daughter of the late Rook Cooksey Bayer and Margaret Washington West Bayer. She was preceded in death by one cousin Andrew William Bayer.Miss Colleen was a licensed Beautician for 60 years and owned Colleen's Beauty Salon in Cumberland City, for 10 years and finished out her career in her home for several years. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant then furthered her career as an Activity Coordinator/Consultant in long term health care. While employed at Palmrya Intermediate Care Center she submitted her Activity Scrapbook through THCA and won the State Award then was a finalist on the National Level. She received the Cosmetologist Of The Year Award. She cared for her husband Thomas Enloe Vaughn until his death in 1991, in their home for over nine years after she suffered a debilitating stroke. Her true passion was in providing nursing care for her patients in their home. Miss Colleen worked until she was 79 years of age when her own health began to deteriate. She had such a love for life which was evidenced by her laughter and comedic personality. Her spirit will surely live on in the lives of those she loved. Survivors include her daughter Audrey Vaughn Baggett(Terry) of Tennessee Ridge, sons Dwight Cooksey Vaughn(Diane) and Thomas Gary"Whitey" Vaughn(Martha Jo) both of Cumberland City. Grandchildren Jessica Lynn Vaughn and Hart Thomas Vaughn(Emily)both of of Cumberland City,Tn., Phillip Lee Wallace of Hollywood, Ca. Shannon Powers(Matt) of Cumberland City, and Shane Alsobrooks of Clarksville Tn. Great grandchildren Breyer and Gage Powers. Miss Colleen had many friends she lovingly called her other daughters, Diane Patterson, Sandra Hargrove, Edna Parchman, Gloria Hodges, Doris Gregg and Debbie Kent. She was a lifelong member of Sailor's Rest Methodist Church. Special music will be provided by Bro.Joel Nulty,Don Williams and Kaye Hudson.Pallbearers will be Edsel Vaughn, Maurice Vaughn, Keith Vaughn, Charles Howard Vaughn, Jimmy Vaughn, Randy Kent, Matt Powers.Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Kent, Shane Alsobrooks, Jack Vaughn, Dannie Vaughn.
