Clarice Allen

Clarice Adelle Allen, age 92, of Clarksville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Signature Health Care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Blooming Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Shelton and Beverly Dycus officiating. She gifted her remains to Vanderbilt Medical School and will be buried in the Blooming Grove Church Cemetery at a later time.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the church.
Clarice entered this life on June 9, 1921 in Montgomery County, the daughter of Reynolds Fredrick Allen and Gracia Bellamy Allen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ewing, Brown L., Gordon, and Horace Allen. She grew up in the Woodlawn community and was a self employed seamstress and homemaker. Miss Allen opened her home to her niece Diana and nephew John and provided years of loving care as she raised them. Clarice was a faithful member of the church family at Blooming Grove Baptist Church where she was a part of the Woman's Missionary Union and taught Sunday School.
Survivors include her niece, Diana Lawrence and husband Don, whom provided loving home care for Miss Allen in her latter years; nephew, John R. Allen, Sr. and wife Linda; great niece and great nephews, Lena Detielj and husband Eric, Nathan Lawrence, and John Allen II; great-great niece Kaylen Major and great-great nephews Michael James Major and Dillon Major; brother David Allen and wife Christine; sister-in-law, Fronie Allen; other nieces Peggy Schwimmer and husband Paul, Glenda Allen and husband Bob, Dona Sue Tilman and husband Shannon, and Shirley Gaither and husband Laith; and other nephews, Ricky Allen and wife Wanda, Joseph Allen, and Robert Allen and wife Martha; and many other great nieces and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Blooming Grove Baptist Church or to the Blooming Grove Church Cemetery fund, 3900 Lylewood Rd., Woodlawn, TN 37191.
